We are delighted to announce that Cecily has joined forces with the wonderful Big Life Foundation charity. Cecily will be donating 10% of all ‘Nellie’ necklace or pendant website sale proceeds to this inspirational charity in a bid to contribute towards the conservation of the Kenyan wild lands, and for the protection of the extraordinary animals that inhabit it.
Big Life Foundation was founded by photographer Nick Brandt & conservationist Richard Bonham in September 2010. Big Life was the first organization in East Africa with co-ordinated cross-border anti-poaching operations.
“Recognizing that sustainable conservation can only be achieved through a community-based collaborative approach, Big Life uses innovative conservation strategies to address the greatest threats, reduce the loss of wildlife to poaching, defeat the ivory trade, mitigate human-wildlife conflict, protect the great predators, and manage scarce and fragile natural resources.“ Big Life.
Big Life now employs 315 rangers, with 31 outposts and 15 vehicles protecting 2 million acres of wilderness in the Amboseli-Tsavo ecosystem of E. Africa.
“The Mission of the Big Life Foundation is a cause very close to our hearts. Tess and I have both been very fortunate to have traveled the world, and individually both of our journeys took us to Africa. We’ve both had the luxury to experience the magnificent creatures of the African wild lands in their natural habitat and understood how precious they were, but it wasn’t until we came across the work of Big Life that we realised quite how endangered these animals are. The work and dedication of every member of Big Life is inspiring, they put their lives on the line everyday to battle the poachers that are killing the beautiful animals of the Amboseli ecosystem. An absolutely worthy cause, we want to help this wonderful charity increase they’re reach and impact and we look forward to a lifetime of helping protect the beautiful animals of the East African wild lands.” Libby Collins, Cecily London Co-Founder.
